January 2025 Book Releases

The Lunar Series which is about the settlement of the Moon after the initial exploration and scientific missions will be complete in individual ebooks and in the paperback series Remembered Earth this month. The series takes advantage of the fact that on the northern edge of Mare Frigoris, about thirty degrees south of the Moon's north pole, there are many impact craters which appear to contain ice water permanently shielded by their southern rim from the Sun. The settlements of the series take advantage of that ice.

Also complete in ebook and paperback will be the Null Infinity trilogy. This series develops the new space drive system called the boundary-drive (although at first it was called something else). It's also a love story between the two developers of the drive and, after marriage, their children.

This story grew out of my interest in faster-than-light (FTL) propulsion. It's the only reasonable way to explore much beyond the Solar System. But the theory of relativity forbids it, so far. Even reading about Star Trek like warp drives, I found that even if possible, getting the warp bubble traveling faster than the speed of light might still be impossible.

So, I took the idea of a bubble in spacetime, which is talked about in several scientific papers that I read and thought about how to accelerate it beyond light speed. The basic idea was that if a bubble of spacetime could be created, then it would move off like an air bubble underwater, although I assumed it could move in more than one direction.

I could then allow the bubble to engulf a ship and we're off. But even with a traveling bubble of spacetime, I still had to accelerate it beyond the speed of light without breaking the law. So, I took a hint from the theory of large extra-dimensions (see Warped Passages for example) and decided that if I could get the bubble into the extra-dimension, the different physics there would allow it to go FTL.

I used other hints from physics to solve problems as I proceeded (such as brane theory to locate more than one universe in my large extra-dimension). I'm now using the boundary-drive in a novel that I am currently working on.

The books released this month chronologically:

January 10
The novella Moon Plex (the eight story in the Lunar Series) will be released in paperback on Amazon.

Maddie Post was a good reporter who was approaching the end of a long, admirable, journalistic career.

Her last story was to be an expose on the commercial settlements built in Mare Frigoris.

She knew it would be her last story, but she didn't know it might take her last breath.

It is the eight book in the Lunar Series.

On the same date releasing wide (but not on Amazon) is the paperback will be Remembered Earth #7. It contains the two stories Moon Power and Moon Rail. These are the fifth and sixth stories in the Lunar Series.

January 11

A wide (when I say wide, I mean Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, etc.) ebook release is the short story Crush.

It's obvious that AI is going to bring tremendous changes to society.

But when AI can mimic anyone living or dead with perfect fidelity, then comes the possibility of emotional manipulation.

And that could mean big bucks to some.

Another wide release on the same day in paperback will be Remembered Earth #8. This will contain the two stories Moon Nuke and Moon Plex. These are the seventh and eighth and final stories in the Lunar Series.

Two ebooks released on Amazon will complete the Null Infinity trilogy.

Null Infinity: Book 2

Development of the superluminal boundary-drive was fraught with dangers, but after years of effort Harry and Lauren Stimson succeeded.

The boundary-drive led to the discovery of the bulk and another world-universe in the bulk that physicists called the strong gravity brane. Exploration of the other brane was the obvious next step.

But what wasn't obvious was how that exploration would affect our world-universe, until disaster struck in the form of a changing gravitational constant.

Now that her parents were retired, it was up to the Stimson's daughter, Elle, to come up with a solution before the change in gravity went too far.

Null Infinity: Book 3

James Stimson was following in his parent's footsteps, sort of. He didn't quite have their aptitude for physics, so he went into management.

But he didn't quite have an aptitude for management either. But Bridgette Auclair did, and as long as he was with her, he would do fine.

But with the world under attack by an unknown attacker and on the verge of collapse, and the answer to the attacks in another universe, they would have to become more than boss and employee, they would have to become partners and more.

January 12

Null Infinity: Book 1 which has been available on Amazon will now be released wide.

Harry was one of the best physics students at one of the best schools in the country.

But even he could learn something from Lauren.

And together they would take on the adventure of developing the next big step in space travel, the boundary-drive.

But it would be dangerous to them and to the whole world.

Future Chron Universe, this is the defining collection of the 8 short stories, 15 novellas, 1 short novel, and 9 novels that make up that universe. Over 800,000 words.

January 13

Null Infinity: Book 2 in ebook will be released wide.

January 14

Null Infinity: Book 3 will be released wide in paperback and ebook.

January 18

Crush will be released in ebook on Amazon.

January 19

Moon Plex will be released in ebook on Amazon and wide.

Moon Power, the thirteenth story in the Lunar Series will be released on Amazon and wide.

Multiplying settlements required more, reliable power.

Two solar power farms located on either side of the string of Mare Frigoris settlements separated by a little over one-hundred-eighty degrees longitude could supply it.

An expedition to prepare one of the areas for development ran into the unexpected. The AI brought along had its own idea.

Moon Rail will be released wide, it is the fourteenth story in the Lunar Series.

Building a two-thousand-mile rail system to connect the Mare Frigoris settlements was a dangerous undertaking.

Young Graham Timothy thought he was up for the task.

But building the first few miles could be more than dangerous, it could be deadly.

Moon Nuke will be released in ebook on both Amazon and wide.

A steady supply of power was needed if the settlements on the Moon in Mare Frigoris were to keep growing.

But putting a nuclear reactor on the Moon was the greatest building project so far undertaken. It would take someone with more than building experience, it would take someone with courage.

Especially to face off against the experts when they got it wrong.

January 20

Moon Town will be released wide in ebook. It is the twelfth story in the Lunar Series.

Humans or AI-powered robots?

That seemed to have become the eternal question in the development of the Moon.

But as with all eternal questions, the practical answer might be, can they complement each other?

Moon Rail, already released wide, will be released in ebook on Amazon.

January 21

Future Chron Universe, which has already been released on Amazon, will be released wide in ebook.

January 30

From The Earth: Complete which has been available for some time will be released wide in ebook.
