Moon Miner

My short story Moon Miner should be out on Amazon by now. Its the third story in the Lunar Series of the Remembered Earth Universe.

According to the blurb: The Remembered Earth Universe covers the science and technology of the next hundred years, as mankind moves into cislunar space (defined as that space in and around the Earth-Moon system and slightly beyond), and takes tentative steps to destinations further.

The series itself will be eight stories about the first commercial settlements on the Moon in Mare Frigoris, which is on the near side about two-thirds of the way from the equator to the pole.

Why Mare Frigoris? Because at that latitude there are many large craters on the northern edge of the mare whose southern walls are perpetually shrouded in darkness. And in that darkness is expected to be something of great value to a settlement on the Moon, ice water.

Also, the lunar mares are a great source of building materials in the form of basalt which can be manufactured into blocks by solar furnaces and used for building or turned into a kind of lunar cement for construction. It's also rich in iron and titanium. As far as the strength of the resulting construction, think hardened lava which is exactly what made the mares.

I won't reveal the story but the rest of the blurb gives a hint as to what it is about:

You would think that mining on the Moon would be a dream job.

Great location, pays well, all expenses paid.

Problem was, people on the Moon were the same as on the Earth. And that could make just doing your job dangerous.

The story will be priced at 99 cents until the end of September when it will return to the regular price of $1.99.
