Several books in different formats are releasing this month.
Moon Nuke: A Novella
Continuing the Lunar Series, the new story novella Moon Nuke will be released in paperback on Amazon:
This is the seventh book in the Remembered Earth Universe: Lunar Series.
Moon Power: A Novella
Also in the Lunar Series the fifth volume, a novella titled Moon Power, previously released in paperback, will be released in Kindle format on Amazon:
Multiplying settlements required more, reliable power.
Two solar power farms located on either side of the string of Mare Frigoris settlements separated by a little over one-hundred-eighty degrees longitude could supply it.
An expedition to prepare one of the areas for development ran into the unexpected. The AI brought along had its own ideas.
This is the fifth eBook in the Remembered Earth Universe: Lunar Series.
A recurring theme throughout this series is the incorporation of AI into human society. Though not there yet, I think that AI and robots will achieve some measure of intelligence and with that intelligence there will be misunderstandings. And not all those misunderstandings will be humanity's fault.
Time Wars: Complete
The Time Series was a triology of novels that I finished in 2022. I developed the science of Quantum Temporal Dynamics (QTD) for the series from the following:
"In some versions of quantum gravity, time itself would be quantized, meaning it would be made from discrete units, which would be the fundamental period of time. It would be as if the universe contained an underlying field that sets the minimum tick rate for everything inside of it, sort of like the famous Higgs field that gives rise to the Higgs boson particle which lends other particles mass. But for this universal clock, 'instead of providing mass, it provides time,' said Bojowald."
That's the physicist Martin Bojowald of the Penn State physics department.
From this idea I discovered the particle of the temporal field and called it the chron (pronounced kron). I then imagined that it could speed up or slow down the "tick rate" of time. From that conceit all followed.
Though I grouped them in a series, they do not share the same major protagonists, what they share is the extrapolated physics.
Time Wars: A Novel
Haile only wants to prove her theory, that time can be slowed down or sped up in a small region of space, and get her Ph.D. But then the government takes over.
They prove Haile's theory by starting a time war between Tarba and the planet Atwan. No matter the winner of the struggle there can be only one outcome, spacetime slowly separating into its constituents.
And separate nothing can exist.
Time's End: A Novel
Strings of time that can split a man in half, fast-time bubbles that can age him to death, or frozen time that can banish him forever. It was all just part of the job.
Pearce Rawlings was a physicist who wanted to do his job, manipulate time, and get his pay. But as usual the world had different ideas. He would soon be involved in a cosmic battle for freedom, one the governments of Earth for some reason were trying to lose.
But Rawlings and a few friends wouldn't quit the job even when facing death.
Frozen Time: A Novel
Because of the Time Wars, the underlying system of local and non-local links that make up spacetime around Earth had been damaged. It was now impossible to use the spin-two drive to open those links and access orbit or the rest of the universe. The rocket ship had again become the primary way to access space from the Earth's surface.
But now a strange spaceship had appeared above the rebuilt spaceports scattered around the globe and placed them all in a seemingly impenetrable bubble of frozen time.
The Earth economy was thrown into turmoil with the loss of cheap space access and a young boy, along with his friends and his amazing AI, were off on an adventure of a lifetime as they and others tried to understand what had happened.
This is the wide release eBook (Apple, Kobo, B&N, etc.), it has been available on Amazon Kindle for a few months.
(Note: In preorder you can get this for 99 cents, less if you go to my online bookstore, see the right side for the link). In general, preorder will be the cheapest way to get my books.
Here I'll share a personal anecdote should there be any young writers in the audience.
After having some success as a writer with my first two series, the sells of this series was a disappointment. It was surprising because I thought that Frozen Time was a fun young adult novel and Time's End was a great road trip. I also thought the rift on the physics was neat. But as a trilogy they only sold about half as many copies as the previous Spin-Two trilogy and I don't think they generated any written reviews online or comments here. That's why I have been slow to collect them.
As a writer you never know exactly what will sale a few copies but when 190,000 words disappear into the ether without a sound you notice. I almost quit writing. But eventually I made the decision that since I enjoyed writing I would just write. I wouldn't keep up with numbers or dollars (except as required by the IRS). I had hoped that in writing I would at least find some like-minded souls and an exchange of ideas. But that also hasn't happen.
I know this isn't that unusual, the vast majority (99.999999 %?) of writers go unnoticed but what is unusual is that I kept writing. I'm glad I did, I really enjoy working out the physics and technology of every story. I enjoy when I write a character that makes me smile (even if it's a robot). And I enjoy re-reading my old stories.
So, to any aspiring author, just write, and learn to take pleasure in the act, not the outcome.
Finally, I've packaged my Cislunar and Lunar stories especially for print only and at a low price point by including two stories in each volume of my Remembered Earth Short Stories series. This month the sixth volume is releasing and will be available online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble (and others according to search results) and at some local book stores (ask yours). The stories in it are:
Remembered Earth Short Stories: Volume 6
Moon Miner: A Short Story
You would think that mining on the Moon would be a dream job.
Great location, pays well, all expenses paid.
Problem was, people on the Moon were the same as on the Earth. And that could make just doing your job dangerous.
Moon Town: A Novella
Humans or AI-powered robots?
That seemed to have become the eternal question in the development of the Moon.
But as with all eternal questions, the practical answer might be, can they complement each other?
(I've linked to the Barnes and Noble website but you can find it almost anywhere if you search.)
